The Royal Theatre, or Teatro Real, is a major theatre or Opera house located in Madrid, Spain. Located between two squares of Plaza de Isabel II and Plaza Oriente, the theatre is a perfect place to experience the greatest, biggest and most prestigious theatre of all in Madrid. Right in front of the Royal Palace, this theatre is greatly distinguished by its architectural style judging the scenery of high society and high quality of the place. This theatre is of course easy to get to by riding the Metro and getting off at Opera Station (Line 2 and 5)
Both squares (Plaza de Isabel II and Plaza Oriente) are filled with pedestrians where tourists can have a good stroll around the area to sightsee. The foundation of Royal Theatre
The Royal Theatre in Madrid was constructed with accordance to the order of Queen Isabel II in the early 18th century. It was inaugurated in November 19, 1850 with the opening performance of La Favorita by Gaetano Donizetti.
Currently, it now stands where the old theatre, the Caños del Peral, lied. The old scene was patterned to the traditional Madrid where the theatre is made up of wood. Caños del Peral refers to an old historical fountain that used to be within the vicinity of the theatre that now stands in the corridors of Opera Metro Station together with Amaniel aqueduct, the infrastructure that carried water to the city since the 17th century.
After the Caños del Peral style of wood throughout the theatre, the Royal Theatre projected a Neoclassical style in order to harmonize with the Royal Palace in the colour of white and light grey. Its architects, Antonio López Aguado and Custodio Moreno, designed the theatre to be where its columns and its arches are in protagonists’ way of projection.
Over the years, this theatre hosted some of the greatest plays during their time that includes Giuseppe Verdi released La Forza del Destino in 1863; the Russian Ballets and the compositor Igor Stravinsky in 1925.

Presently, the Royal Theatre is still a wonderful place to enjoy every opera genre and ballet.
